Stichting Veldwerk the Netherlands (SVN) was founded in 1999 opgericht by René Veldt and is aiming to provide suitable support on a local level to marginalized women and children in Nepal. At present times, SVN is implementing 11 projects in 5 different districts through 9 local partners.
Vision: Women are the cornerstone of the family, and thus, the communities. Children are 50% of Nepal’s population and 100% of its future. Sustainable development can only be accomplished through supporting these groups by educating them and making them independent.
Mission: To improve the living conditions and position within the Nepalese society of marginalized women & children through education, awareness, vocational training and income generation. At the same time, providing them and their communities their basic needs by offering shelter, healthcare and sanitation.
Organizational objectives
- To detect women and children that are threatened in their basic rights and needs or are forced to live in a disrespectful way.
- To support and facilitate local and grassroots development initiatives (initiatives from out of the communities).
- To not disturb local know how and social structures while implementing projects, but rather incorporate them.
- To plan towards a point (the phase out), where the project can continue with minimal external support (sustainable projects) carried out by the local partner.
