Even though we are full force constructing in Hamro Gaun, we can conclude that not all buildings are going to be finished before the deadline. At the moment, Nepal is caught in celebrating the year’s two biggest festivals; Dashain and Tihar.
Despite this, the construction of the two dormitories is nearly finished. One dormitory has been tiled, plastered and the painting is completed as we speak. That means that the boys can move in before the opening probably. The second dormitory runs a little behind.
Also, the vocational training centre emerges from the soil and the first and the second floor of the organic farmhouse will be finished probably, including a part of the animals in the stable.

The rainwater harvesting tank with a capacity of 100.000 litre of water is finished. This tank will supply a powerful pump in case of a fire. The cover of this large watertank is used as a small sports field. Here, the kids can play petanque, tabletennis, volleyball and basketball.
The toilet flushes (so called ‘black water’ in terms of pollution) are transported to the biogas tank, which is working as foreseen. Almost all food for the orphanage is cooked on a stove that uses biogas. It saves the project five bottles of gas a month, a saving of 60 euros, besides the fact that gas is a rare commodity now and then. The kitchen rinse water and shower water (so called grey water) is collected in a septic tank and channeled to the barley filter. After the organic filtering process (the filter uses mineral layers and barley to activate germs that clean the water) this water is used for the farm and the garden irrigation. The first filter is ready now and the second is under construction.
The fishponds, four in total, are halfway done. The fish that will breed in the ponds are used for feeding the project and income generation.
