Supporting local initiatives SVN works together with local partners. This cooperation is because of several reasons:

First, we consider the local people as experts, they have the experience how people survive in their area, how the current problems have developed and how to use the local know how.

In addition, the involvement of a local organization makes that the project is considered as something of the local people. Only when the community feels responsible for a project, a project becomes sustainable. It should be a part of daily life in the long term.

Finally, we believe that supporting local initiatives provides a specific approach to the problem. Nepal is a patchwork of languages, religions and ethnicities. The life in a mountain village in the Himalayas cannot be compared with life in the plains of the Terrai. Each community is unique, and therefore the problems it faces. Together with local organizations we created programs specifically focused on the problems within their communities with the following scopes:
  • - Shelter
  • - Education
  • - Vocational training women
  • - Healtcare
  • - Sustainability
  • - Awareness
