Women groups from the Sindupalchok district are supported through coffee and fruit programs, vocational training, awareness and micro credit. The women included in these groups are those that are considered outcasts by society because of their caste or social status. In the same district, a vocational training project provides places to women, belonging to the lowest castes. The training is followed with access to micro- credit, in order to set up their own business. Besides this, education and shelter programs for children are launched in Bharabise and Chautara.

 Vocational training & income generation

The women group in Lamosango has completed several vocational training courses for their participants, followed by distribution of micro credit. Besides this, addition programs have further supported the women in their income generation. The tailoring project in Bharabise is at the moment waiting for organizational restructuring before it can continue to provide training to a new group of Dalit women (untouchables).

Education & shelter

Together with the governmental body (National Child Fund) 200 children who lost their parents in the civil war of the last decade are provided the means to attend education. Besides this, over a 100 children are receiving a scholarship and technical assistance to finish their school or secondary education. Beside this, a fieldworker makes regular house visits in order to monitor the overall development of the children. Finally, a number of conflict victims is sheltered in a children’s home near the Tibetan border.

These projects are supported by Armas Europe and former volunteers and visitors.
